Introduction

Entrepreneurship is a vital aspect of economic growth and development, and it is essential to identify the factors that influence entrepreneurial interest among students. The Faculty of Economics and Business, University of North Sumatra, has a concentration in entrepreneurship that aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to become successful entrepreneurs. However, the question remains: what factors contribute to entrepreneurial interest among students? This study aims to investigate the effect of entrepreneurial knowledge, family factors, and personality factors on entrepreneurial interest among students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of North Sumatra.

Methodology

This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey research design. The population of the study consisted of 35 students from the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of North Sumatra, who were enrolled in the entrepreneurship concentration. Purposive sampling techniques were used to select the respondents. The data collection instrument consisted of a questionnaire that measured entrepreneurial knowledge, family factors, personality factors, and entrepreneurial interest. The questionnaire was validated and reliability tested before being administered to the respondents. Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the data, and the significance level was set at 5%.

Results

The results of the study showed that entrepreneurial knowledge, family factors, and personality factors had a significant influence on entrepreneurial interest among students. The multiple regression analysis revealed that the three factors simultaneously had a significant influence on entrepreneurial interest. Furthermore, the partial regression analysis showed that each of the three factors had a positive and significant influence on entrepreneurial interest.
