Research Methodology

The mobile phases used included Forestal, Baw (butanol: acetic acid: water), 15%acetic acid, 5%acetic acid, and 1%HCl. The stationary phase used was Whatmann No.1 paper, and the appearance of spots was shown by the use of AlCl3, FeCl3, and ammonia steam. The isolates obtained were then separated through the preparative KKT and were characterized by UV and IR spectrophotometers.

The result of simplicia characterization showed that the water content reached 5.99%, water soluble levels 9.56%, extract content in ethanol 9.99%, total ash content 7.98%, and ash content not soluble in acid 1.15 %. The results of phytochemical screening in ethanol extract indicated the presence of several groups of active compounds, namely alkaloids, flavonoids, triterpenoids/steroids, tannins, saponins, and glycosides. In ethyl acetate fractions, there were flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and glycosides.
