Introduction

The independent variables analyzed were profitability, family ownership, institutional ownership, independent commissioner, and audit committee, while the dependent variable observed was tax avoidance, measured using Cash Effective Tax Rate (CETR).

Results

The results of the analysis showed that profitability, family ownership, institutional ownership, and corporate governance did not have a simultaneous influence on tax avoidance. However, when analyzed partially, only family ownership showed an influence on tax avoidance, while profitability, institutional ownership, and corporate governance had no effect.

The results of this study provide important insights into the dynamics of tax avoidance in the mining sector in Indonesia. Family ownership was found to have a significant influence on tax avoidance, which may be due to the greater control that family-owned companies have over decision-making, including tax-related decisions. However, this study shows that in the context of the company under study, corporate governance does not show a significant effect on tax avoidance.
