Recommendations
Based on the findings of this study, several recommendations can be made to increase the effectiveness of CSR disclosure in controlling earnings management practices. Firstly, increasing environmental awareness among manufacturing companies is very important. The government and related institutions can play an active role in providing education and incentives for companies that apply sustainability practices. Secondly, the application of CSR Disclosure Standards that are more comprehensive and tight, especially related to environmental performance, can encourage companies to be more transparent in publishing data. Finally, increased law enforcement for companies that violate the rules related to CSR and the environment can be a deterrent effect for other companies to manipulate data.
Conclusion
This study provides evidence that the disclosure of CSR in Indonesia has not been fully effective in controlling the practice of earnings management. The role of environmental performance as moderation in this relationship is also not significant. More proactive steps are needed to increase environmental awareness, transparency, and law enforcement related to CSR in Indonesia. By implementing these recommendations, manufacturing companies listed on the IDX can improve their CSR disclosure practices and contribute to sustainable development.
