Introduction

In today's competitive business environment, companies are constantly seeking ways to improve their performance and stay ahead of the competition. One of the key strategies that companies can employ to achieve this goal is by implementing a Quality Management System (QMS) and an Environmental Management System (EMS). These systems, which are based on international standards such as ISO 9000 and ISO 14000, provide a framework for companies to manage their quality and environmental performance in a systematic and effective manner.

The Importance of Quality Management and Environmental Management Systems

Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Environmental Management Systems (EMS) are essential components of Total Quality Management (TQM). TQM is a management approach that aims to achieve customer satisfaction by continuously improving the quality of products and services. QMS and EMS are designed to help companies achieve this goal by emphasizing continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. The application of QMS and EMS requires clear authority and responsibility among employees, which enables effective and efficient management.

The Proposed Hypothesis

The proposed hypothesis in this study is that the application of ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 can improve work performance. In addition, employee knowledge and understanding have a positive influence on the success of the application of these two systems. The motivational model is also expected to contribute significantly to the application of ISO 9000 and ISO 14000. In other words, education and motivation have a strong impact on work performance.

Methodology

The methodology used in this study includes the distribution of questionnaires and direct observations, as well as analysis of employee work performance data conducted before and after the implementation of Total Quality Control (TQC). This research is a type of ex post facto research, which analyzes data to find causal relationships. Data were analyzed using the T test to determine the significant difference between work performance before and after the application of TQC.

Results

The analysis results showed a T-count of 9,899, far greater than the T-table 2.00 at a significance level of 0.05, so it can be concluded that there are significant differences in employee work performance. Analysis of the level of employee knowledge shows that there is a significant positive relationship between knowledge and work performance, with a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.48. This means that 48% of variations in work performance can be explained by the level of employee knowledge. On the other hand, the motivational model also shows a strong positive relationship, with a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.57, which shows that 57% of variations in work performance are influenced by motivation.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this research confirms the existence of real differences in employee work performance before and after the application of integrated quality control, which was implemented through SMM and SML at PT (Persero) Sucofindo Medan. These results provide important insights for company management in improving employee achievement through increasing knowledge and motivation related to the management system applied.
