Methodology

This study was conducted with an observational analytic approach using cross-sectional design. A total of 34 swimmers became samples of this research. Measurement of dental sensitivity is done with an electric pulp tester.

Results

The results showed that all swimmers (100%) experienced tooth erosion on the labial surface of the anterior tooth permanent with the degree of etching (ET) and teeth 1 (G1). The average tooth sensitivity threshold value for etching degrees is 15.33 ± 7,089, while for the degree of G1 is 10.80 ± 3,416. Through the T-Independent test, a significant difference is found to the tooth sensitivity threshold based on the degree of tooth erosion in the swimmer. Further analysis using the Spearman correlation test shows a significant correlation between the value of the tooth sensitivity threshold with the degree of erosion.
