The primary objective of this study is to investigate the histopathological patterns of liver biopsy in patients with chronic hepatitis and to evaluate the effectiveness of the Scoring Metavir system in predicting the severity of the disease .
Method This study uses a cross-sectional cutting design with total sampling in all people with chronic hepatitis who undergo liver biopsy at H. Adam Malik Hospital Medan during the 2012-2013 period. Liver biopsy preparations are checked microscopically using hematoxylin-eosin staining and are assessed based on the Scoring Metavir system to determine the degree of inflammation and fibrosis. The study design and methodology are crucial in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the results .
Results Of the 25 people with chronic hepatitis, the majority are male (64%) and aged 46-54 years (32%). The results of histopathological assessment show that most patients have a degree of inflammation (grading) of A3 metavir (52%), while staging fibrosis (F2 metavir) is found in 44% of patients.
